The Social Studies Department offers a wide variety of courses designed to fulfill the state requirements for graduation and encourage student growth, leadership and citizenship. The goal of the social studies department is to prepare students to become aware of our interdependent world and to become active participants in our democratic society.

All students in Williamsburg Charter High School are required to successfully complete four years of social studies for graduation – one in each grade, 9 through 12. In all grades alternative choices are offered in Regents, honors, and Advanced Placement. Placement is reviewed periodically, and students are reassigned when appropriate. All students must pass the NYS Regents examination on completion of their sophomore and junior year programs.
